TermInternet of Things
Contributor Lucia Rebolino
The Internet of Things refers to a network of interconnected devices—from personal devices like phones and computers to environmental sensors and weather instruments—that communicate and exchange data over the internet. By enabling real-time data collection, IoT enhances our ability to monitor atmospheric and environmental conditions, providing valuable insights for climate science and weather forecasting. However, as IoT expands, it also presents challenges in managing spectrum allocation, data privacy, and energy demands, particularly as these devices increasingly intersect with critical zones of environmental and scientific observation.
